Under the bill, public employees in the Wisconsin Retirement System would pay about 5.8% of their salaries toward pensions, up significantly from 0.2%, Werwie said. And state workers would pay for 12.6% of their monthly health care premiums, up from between 4% and 6%.
Exactly what cuts in pay or benefits are they taking? I didnt see any
They have being stripped of their rights to collective bargaining, basically, they are dismantling the union but they will still have all the protections a union would have given them. They are being asked to pay 6% toward pensions and 12% (currently between 4-6%) toward their healthcare premiums. That's it. It's a big to-do over nothing. They are calling in sick and staging a strike (which is illegal here) and a gigantic protest at the capitol, leaving several school districts shut down due to nobody showing up. Some teachers even took their students with them to protest, which is outrageous, especially considering they have no idea what's going on.
Thats what I dont get,why shut down schools when you can work today at the same pay? whats the problem.will all those who called in sick and were protesting get the 2 days pay for lying? bet they do.what a silly union, time to shut em down
Seriously, what is your point here? You keep coming on here and derailing the thread. Do YOU want to be reported?
No mod has said anything to me about hijacking (derailing) the thread. My point is that Wisconsin has always had a fairly high tax rate. I am aware you just moved there, to start a business. Perhaps you should have researched this since you're such a libertarian and don't like to pay taxes. The people of Wisconsin have continued to vote people in who have maintained this level of taxation.
