My nephew (whose in the 11th grade in high school) told me that his school does NOT recite the Pledge of Allegiance every morning, and when the school does say it, only about half of his classmates stand up to say it, and one of his classmates makes fun of it by holding out his arm like Hitler, but he has been told to stop doing that. Which I believe is disrespectful to our country. We live in this great land where we have the freedom to do whatever we want and we're not living so poorly and malnourished that half the country is homeless and live on less than $2 a day, which is how like half the world lives. But, back when I was in school, they said the Pledge of Allegiance daily at the same time, and everyone stood up to say it, and the teachers made you say it if you didn't participate. But, times have changed, and our country's youth doesn't seem to have the respect and dignity that they used to. I even now think that all workplaces should have it too, and make it mandatory to say.
So, what do you think? Should it be mandatory?

I don't think it should be mandatory as it reminds me too much of fascism of the Democrats and Leftists. However, I think our kids saying the Pledge every once in awhile wouldn't hurt.
School "policy" in primary and secondary grades of public schools. Parents should be informed of the policy and if they do not want their children to participate, they can sign a paper to have them exempted.

Huh? How does it remind you of them?
And no, I don't think it should be MANDATORY, but if a student chooses not to, they should have to present reasonable reasons to the teachers as to why they should not have to do it.

More times than not, it turns out to be how the parents feel about it, not the kids.
Are you saying that conservatives (support making it mandatory) are socialists?
