We do not have a draft today.

I'd love to see the draft reinstated, with no deferments, all people of whatever age range would go.
That would put an end to some of this nonsense.

Draft an armed nation?

I can see some possible back-fires there.

The "excuse" was irrelevant - we were faced with an 11 year old no-fly-zone we had to deal with - can you say deja vu.

Where was this concern when Bush was talking about Iraq?

Libya will be a fast event. all they need to do is go after the head of the snake and it dies.

establish the rebels in charge and walk away.

No country owns its citizens. We are not slaves. Many American lives would have been spared had we not had the draft for Vietnam and Korea. Neither of those illegal invasions made us safer.

Not many used their heads. The few who correctly warned us about our involvement in the illegal invasion were ignored. They knew from history, our involvement in the affairs of other nations causes more problems than it solves.

Keep listening to the ones who said Iraq would be a slam dunk. Mission accomplished, right?
The publics short term memory sucks.

I doubt this will be much of anything. we will keep reaching out and touching from remote locations. I would not be surprised if we lose no one in this conflict. drones and cruise missiles are amazing technology, but we have paid dearly for it. I'd bet we are at the $100 million mark already in 3 days.

The lockheed stockholders are buying those shares up now i bet.

Gov'ts ignore similarly out-gunned, rebels vs. tyrants, wars and genocides all over the world, every day (see: Darfur).

But Libya is part of the OIL pipeline so we get involved for "humanitarian reason."
