“I believe we were in third place for 13 years before I got here, and I think habits, particularly with an evening news broadcast, move at a glacial pace,” she told the Times. “And I think that local news stations have something to do with it.”
Yup, every local evening News show across America just on CBS, apparently, didn't pull their weight in making her successful.
2. Us, because all Americans, in the whole country, weren't ready for a woman.
"Outgoing 'CBS Evening News" anchor Katie Couric says America wasn’t ready for the “overly ambitious” change she brought nearly five years ago as the first woman to helm a nightly network newscast.'

I guess the possibility that maybe people just don't like her (or CBS) never crossed her mind. Get over yourself, lady.
Yeah, katie talks the problem is no one wants to listen lol.
Katie Couric is the classic example of the Peter Principle. She was at her hey-day at the Today Show trading barbs and recipes with Matt and company.
What a stupid decision to put her behind a news desk.
And Diane Sawyer is 100% better and more suited for anchor. She has class and respect. Katie was in way over her head from day one and I'm surprised it took them this long to get rid of her.

Don't know why anyone would care who delivered the news but it does sound like jealousy of a successful woman to me.
