1) If you said that during the Bush Admin., you'd be branded unpatriotic and unAmerican.

2) The statement really is insulting to service people who, unlike us, put their lives on the line defending our nation and are subjected to the hardship of being away from their families for extended periods. We, at the most, are only asked to pay taxes to support them. I think we get the cheaper end of the bargain.

One has to see just now he cuts that moneies from defense really. The defense budget itself is not a real problem because its has remianed near 4% of GDP since Clinton's cuts.Gates has alredy proposed areas to cut defense.Rememeber the war spending is quite separate from defense budget itself. The real problems is medicaid and medicare which is growig fast in per cenatge of GDP. SS will reach a crsis state'

Over a number of years, not a problem.

Cut trillions in social programs.
Cut even more trillions by giving pink slips to about 75% of the government employees.

The Dems on the other hand cry about any cuts in any domestic program so I'm not touting them but today its the GOP's turn to explain.
I don't think our defense budget is $1 trillion

Yep. It was "only" $929 Billion last year. The $1 Trillion tells me that he isn't serious about making significant cuts either, but the trillion is likely spread over a decade or so.

Ron Paul wants to cut military spending, not defense spending. The argument is that attacking other countries and maintaining forward operating bases to project power overseas isn't defensive. I agree.

So, this is another of those: "I've a plan" things? Why don't they make it public, so at least people like you could be more informed and share the information as opposed to simply propagating a rhetoric?
