There is no quick fix to extricating ourselves from the Iraq/Afghanistan swamp we waded into in 2003. We need to stop policing the world and get ourselves collectively back on our feet. If we're this worried about the middle east oil producers, guess what, we need to cut our consumption down to lower our dependence on it. Nobody seems to want to do the hard stuff. We thump our chests and keep buying the Hemmies and Hummers, then whine when we can't afford gas. Well, boohoo, take the damned bus to work you bunch of wimps.

We can't spend our way into prosperity, never could. Politicians on both sides are pointing the finger and trying to make brownie points when they should look at the true waste in government spending and start cutting.

If you don't vote, you get what you deserve. In Miami, we recalled the Mayor, and put the rest of them on notice that same-old-same-old doesn't cut it anymore.

Life is tough, get used to it. Stop throwing up your hands and shout "we're doomed" when you don't like the policies of the guy in charge. We made it through worse times than this, by a long shot, and this country survived. Point-in-fact: the Civil War, the Depressions (yes there wer more thn one) World War 1 and 2...

Remember there's an entire Senate and House who's screwing things up, too. Both Reps and Dems are culpable.

Sadly yes we did, we are people of instant gratification and when we aren't instantly gratified we start the blame game.

In regards to your last paragraph, don't you know it is much easier to blame someone else then to step and take responsibility for one's actions. I actually blame Congress more for the crap we are dealing with right now, I would hope everyone knows the President only makes suggestions he doesn't make the laws. To think that any president has to be involved with every aspect of the government is setting him or her up for failure, that is why a good manager delagates.

We need to shut the hell up and tighten the old belt. We can't have everything, and we need to stop acting like a bunch of spoiled kids.

I get so fed up with the "we're going to hell" attitude. People have been through worse and came out fine. We, as a nation need to stop whining and expecting a bunch of politicians to make our lives better.

We shout for budget cuts, but then gripe when those cuts mean a cut in services. We're the champions of Not In My Back Yard.

I say again, we voted our way to where we are, unintentionally of coarse!! The people we vote for do not do what they campaign on.

Obama said we would get out of Iraq and Afghanistan and not only has he not done that, now we are in Libya too.

We are over 14 TRILLION dollars in debt with a more than 1.5 TRILLION dollar (some say up to 2.7 trillion) deficit and our elected officials are right now arguing over a few billion or shut down government!!!! Is it me or are they all insane??

Hell the Dems were not even operating on a budget for how long????

It seems that some politicians start out with good intentions until they get started on the job and find out it will be business as usual because someone with a hell of a lot of money said so.

Recall the whole lot of them...who will replace them that will be any better???

Since everyone is intolerant of something and tolerant of another thing, showing one's intolerance of some things highlights one's tolerance for other things. And, unfortunately, vice versa.

Maybe the lesson is to strike a balance between the two.

The nature of politics is compromise and deal trading. We need to vet our choices. Do our homework, and vote for the guy who will bvest represent us. We go for the flashy (case in point, Donald Trump). It's hard work, but we would rather listen to the sound bites and simpletons than think for ourselves.

Not really, there's some pretty insightful discourse here, you just need to wade through it all.

I have said once and I will say it again. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS TOLERANCE!! What you think is tolerance doesn't fly in other parts of the world! People have become so ignorantly PC today that they same to believe that what they believe is right and everyone else is wrong. Such as feminism, liberalism, and gay rights. These things don't exist in half the countries across the world!! And these people are hypocrites anyway because ask them if there should be tolerance towards pedophiles and beastiality and they don't know what to say! So I'm going to say it again, tolerance doesn't exist. ANYWHERE!! Ignorant people like to throw that word around because they have no education or knowledge on the rest of the world and their values. If your not tolerant towards EVERYTHING and EVERYONE of every lifestyle, religion, and culture, then your not tolerant PERIOD!!
