but you aren't. You are living In These Days. And i am minority too but that has nothing to do with anything. Discrimination is illegal and its a moot point. States rights are being violated by Medicare, SS, Obamacare and other socialist federal programs being forced on states and this should stop
I know discrimination is illegal. It is illegal because of federal decree, not state decree. I know I am living in these days. My point is that I have to consider these things. I am talking in historical terms.
I don't seem to worry about the "socialist" programs.
If you polled Black Democrat women anywhere the results would be just as high.
I disagree. I am a black woman, and while I am no longer a Democrat (Independent), I do not oppose interracial marriage. In fact, my marriage was interracial. I also have many relatives, friends, and colleagues who are black female Democrats and NONE oppose interracial marriage. What would give you that impression?
Despite the Loving V Virginia ruling in 1967 Alabama still had a law on the books that banned interracial marriage. The law wasn't enforced after Loving V Virginia, but was still on the books. In the 2000 election, a referendum was held to take the law off the books, the referendum passed 59.5-40.5 and the law was officially taken off the books. The heavily black counties (Democratic) voted overwhelmingly to take the law off the books, while many (though not all) of the heavily white counties (Republican) voted to keep the law on the books.
so anyway its a done deal Now and a moot point..thanks for the info. though

ya but i dont think any of this stuff is meaningful Now...i dont care how its illegal but discrimination is illegal.. Now we must move on..i am a minority conservative and i believe in states rights and all these idiotic federal socialistic programs are being forced on states, like Obamacare, Medicare, and so many more..these things should be up to the states...i want to see states have these rights (as protected under 10th Amendment).
i am against discrimination in any form and we will never see the same legal again Ever, so its a moot point
No it's not a moot point when you have polls like this that exist.
The fact that you even said such lets me know where you stand on the subject. Remind me to never live in the same state as you.
You can't Tell people what to think..and oh by the way, I'm black, not that it makes a difference...i am "colorblind"..i dont see white or black..i just see "Americans".
and it is a moot point as discrimination is illegal and will never be legal again.
If u dont want to live with me in the same state, you have 49 others to choose from..i don't really care. And you Know where i stand on the subject? no you don't..Im A Mixed Marriage myself..my wife is half white, half Philipino..again none of your concern, but you passed judgements on me without Knowing me....don't do that
You can't Tell people what to think..and oh by the way, I'm black, not that it makes a difference...i am "colorblind"..i dont see white or black..i just see "Americans".
No, you can't tell people what to think, but that's not what this subject is about. You don't legislate your personal beliefs when they infringe upon the rights of others.
And just because you're Black really has no bearing on what I said earlier. You think that states have the right to pass whatever legislation they want regardless as to whether they are discriminatory or not and then say it's a moot point? That's the definition of insanity.
I certainly wouldn't be predisposed to using Mississippi Republicans as an example of typical Republican thought all over the whole country. However, i should note that the Republican Party has become a "southern party" to a large degree so this poll carries some weight.
Still though, this goes to my theory that the Republican Party overall may not be ostensibly anti-black in character, but it is certainly hostile to African-Americans in large part. And if you were to poll white Republicans in any other southern state, you'd get damn near the same results. I'd bet everything i own on it.
