Military cuts buy Republicans? Who was the last Republican to pour less money into war? None to my memory...

I assume that they do not want to make the cuts.

Why?

Why not?
that would depend on what cuts are being proposed, if it is going to hurt our country or military families, no, they will not. If you are talking pentagon cuts or some freezes instead of cuts, probably yes.

I dunno..I'm sure our elite in DC will decide to rescue some other country once we've invaded Libya and get that "war for freedom" under way.

We had the largest standing military on 9/11 and I believe the highest defense spending as well (and still do).

The problem with cutting defence spending is that we dont also cut missions. Instead they reduce training time , spare parts and maintenance. They dont stop building golf courses and bowling alleys and they insist on forcing the military to buycrap they not only didnt ask for but dont want.
How many times do our elected reps use military flights to go visit the troops? The visit of course is a campaign trip.
How many carrier battle groups do we need? 2 less wouldnt hurt that much but would save a ton of money.
Do we really need bases in Germany? 1 less would save some cash too.
There are many places we could cut spending and not reduce our ability to project force when needed.
Should we use a carrier battle group to sit off the coast of haiti? Japan?
We have our own problems. Do we need to involve ourselves in another coutry's civil war? Millions wasted per day.
Yes lets cut Military spending but do it the right way. Use our Military for defence of this nation not an arm of the UN.

As for cutting the defense budget, you do know the difference between cut and eliminate? If you do, then you can appreciate that an area that the only portion of the Federal budget that is equal in size is Social Security, both of which comprise 40% of the federal budget.

Now, as much as reactionaries would seem to think, spending on the poor, cowboy poetry festivals and frog statues weren't the causes of the deficit, so if you are going to cut where better than in those areas where fractional reductions are more easily found, unless of course you think that there are no areas in the defense spending the country can't now afford.

Sure, because the abortion rooms at planned parenthood clinics have separate electric meters and have water piped in from a separate source and you even have to use a separate door.

The organization is funded.

The organization provides abortions.

The funds, however indirectly, are used for abortions.
