For the first time since the Great Depression, households are receiving more income from the government than they are paying the government in taxes. The combination of more cash from various programs, called transfer payments, and lower taxes has been a double-barreled boost to consumers’ buying power, while also blowing a hole in the deficit. Budget Deficit: Government Handouts Top Tax Income
Well, now Obama can compare himself to FDR and all those government programs that he put in place to keep money in people's pockets.
Obama can campaign on extension for unemployment, increased food stamp usage, mandated mortgage programs for those in trouble and free breakfast/lunch/dinner served to all students in public schools.
Know we know most of us what they are called, prefer not to use the word, we got it, and we got obama and do know where he is coming from. He'll be all ice cream and apple pie soon, when he gets in campaign mode, sickening.
I understand that the Dems are all for social justice and share the wealth, but even they have to see that we've finally tipped the scales and have to cut back.
...and the president's answer..... more government subsidies, more debt, more cronyism.
This is why so many Americans say we are headed in the wrong direction.
I so agree with you here. We are headed in the wrong direction, just so very sad, that so many Americans, truly cannot grasp the direction we are going in, so frustrating for the many of us who can.
We are headed in the wrong direction, and the blame can go to many people but one also responsible is Obama and he sure has no problem spending, and asking for money. We need him out.
at the height of this economic meltdown, we had some 10-14 million unemployed people right? if I can remember correctly, when you receive unemployment benefits, you do not get taxes taken out upfront..so, if all of a sudden, 10m plus people who were tax payers when they had jobs all of sudden cant pay taxes, then the numbers make sense......everyone who did receive unemployment is eventually going to have to pay taxes on the amount they receive when they file their tax returns for the year in question.

But in most cases that tax will be much less than what they were earning before. $300-400/week is not much if you lost a job where you were earning $50K or more.
$20K per year in unemployment is not going to "give back".
If anything these folks won't have to pay any taxes.
Without spending time investigating the claims, the trend started in 2001.
Yup..so both parties are at fault. That makes our misery "bipartisan".
All should be mad. The finger pointing will not fix anything.
