Obama to visit Alabama tornado zone Friday | Reuters

President Obama has already offered federal assistance and is visiting Alabama, an overwhelmingly red state that would never vote for him. It's refreshing to see a President that acts like a President for all of the people.

i think it's sad that we've reached a point in this country where such a thing is actually worth commending. Obama is the president of the United States TODAY. how these people will vote for him two years down the line shouldn't matter.

I mean good for Obama and all, but i would expect this. Just like I'd expect a conservative president to show up in New York if there was a disaster there.

I'm not sure which state that you live in. Living in a fervently anti-Obama state (Tex) and hearing it all of the time, I seriously wouldn't blame him for not setting foot in this state or any other southern state. I think that the Kennedy assassination enforces this in my mind. Texas was/is a hostile state for Dems and look what happened.

That was all for show. That event turned his failed Presidency around and set him up to win the 2004 election with his "war on terrah" and "the homos".

could be, but I don't see how Obama gains by visiting ANY deep red state like alabama. Bush and the WTC put Bush on a world stage because there was never any attack like that on American soil, especially one foisted upon innocent civilians.
Bush's visit to the WTC and Obama's visit to Ala do not compare.

I'd really like to think that both our Presidents did it because it was what they should have done. I mean honestly as much as I dislike Bush what is he supposed to do? Not go to NYC?

I just think it's awful that this is even an issue.

Ok you guys know that Obama is not my favorite person to hang out with. However the reason or why he is doing it, for show, or cause he cares still he is going someplace where he ought to be. Showing support for these poor people who have lost so much. I feel a visit from the President, may lift there spirits. I would like to think he is there not for the politics, but even if, he is still there.
