Obama and his wife will attend this special last shuttle take off...

Obama is the one who ended all future shuttle take offs...and due to this hundreds of job are lost. Many people over 50 years old will not be able to find a new job since they were doing very specialized work which nowhere is needed.

Younger people will be able to secure jobs before these veterans will be able to be re-trained for different jobs.

Maybe for other people, the so called fans of Obama, this will be a special occassion and all fine that he will attend, for me it is disgusting that he will be sitting there while so many know this will be one of the last days on the job....

First off you are wrong, this is NOT the last flight only the last flight for this particular shuttle. Secondly, the choice to end the shuttle program started before President Obama was even elected so your whine is Partisan at best and an untruth in fact.

Good news for you!!!

In February, President Barack Obama included $600 million for NASA's space shuttle program as part of the agency's fiscal year 2011 budget proposal. The funds were set aside in case NASA needed to delay its final shuttle flights beyond their planned September 2010 retirement date

Wow, would the OP blame Obama if it's raining outside? This was decided long ago.

Obama has actually increased money to the shuttle program during his presidency due to the delays in the replacement vehicle.

Wonderful thread from some one who has repeatedly championed government workers are wasteful socialists that should be kicked out in favor of private industry.

Notice a pattern? As soon as these knee-jerk criticizers of Obama or the Democrats are given the actual facts, they take off to not be heard from again. '

Seems to be the case of the OP here.

Obama's budget also included this;

Quote:
The request does, however, pledge extra funding to extend the life of the International Space Station through at least 2020 and offers $6 billion over five years to support commercially built spaceships to launch NASA astronauts into space. The space agency?s three remaining space shuttles are due to retire later this year.

The space shuttles are unsafe 30 year old bucket of bolts, designed for a 10 year span, built to a flawed design (2 or 5 failed killing all on board) that never came close to their inexpensive/quick turn around promise. The only shame is that despite the long lead time America has nothing suitable to replace it.
