Fine, withhold aid from all the states then and take back every dime Obama sent to the liberal ones for federal disaster. It is about the consistency and character of the POTUS, not about the Governor.

The Chicago way appears to be the mean spirited punishment of the people of an entire state when Obama doesn't like the Governor. It is a disturbing pattern of behavior we can see repeated from the Obama administration's actions with AZ.
This is the only place Obama is transparent in his Administration. What a thug IMO.

Well from a libertarian standpoint, state disasters are always handled by the states and local governments first, which they are. Texas has a big National Guard that can handle the situation.

FEMA is a useless organization. Haven't learned from Katrina, no use relying on a clumsy, elephant-like agency like it. The fire would have burned out the whole state before they send the first truck in!

Well...I guess his "priniciples" only extend to the point where he wants some of that federal spending, huh? First, it was Obama's fault for offering federal money, and now it's his fault for NOT offering it.

Come on, Rick. Ya can't have it both ways.

classic liberal silliness trying to connect A to 17.

Federal Disaster funds and support are recognized as valuable and important role of the federal goverment.

stimulus money is a political issue and was opposed based on political ideology.

disasters have no ideology.

Quit using hurting people to scoreboard. It’s disgusting.

FEMA: 2011 Federal Disaster Declarations

scroll all the way to the bottom....the state of Texas has been granted a bunch of fire management assistance declarations, where the feds pay 75% and the state 25%.....

Yes, I read the article I linked in the OP. That still does not explain Obama's failure to make the declaration.

You mean like FEMA and New Orleans? Although, the reality of that was the failure of the Governor of Louisiana.

20 declarations to be exact which provide a not-so-paltry amount of firefighting funds/capability.

Definitely going to remember this when your state comes begging.

This really is politics at its worst. Obama should step up and act like the President. Thus far, in this situation, I have not seen him do so.
