But I’d put it differently. I’d say that the Fed’s policy is to do nothing about unemployment because Ron Paul is now the chairman of the House subcommittee on monetary policy. (emphasis added)

Krugman's theory is that Washington cares about inflation now, and therefore this means they don't care about the unemployed.

This all relies on the assumption that QE has been effective at creating jobs.
