I don't have a job but assuming I get a job that's the median salary for my intended major... no!
The median salary is around $60,000.
So let's say I'd end up making $30,000. That is not a lot of money to live on in the DC area, certainly not enough to also put away for retirement. If I went to college and worked my ass off for four years and employers considered $60,000/year to be what my labor is worth, why should I have to take a pay cut because someone else chose a job/career that could be easily taken away?
Wages for average Americans has stagnated for 20-25 years...
Back in the day when the economy was good for middle class Americans(50's-60's) CEOs made 30 to 40% of what the average American made...now CEOs make 600 to 700% of what the average American makes...
Do you think CEOs would cut their salaries in half ?
It should be 30-40X vs.today's 600-700X, rather than % in your example above..
Bringing jobs back to the American people would increase wages for us. The whole reason they exported our jobs was for the cheap labor. Bringing them back would only be a plus for everyone.
