Ron Paul is basically a Milton Friedman. Milton Friedman was a true liberal, which is nothing like what most people accept as being a liberal today.
A true liberal is someone who believes in liberty, which therefore means a limited government. What most people call liberals today are actually big-government progressives, they do not believe in real liberty.
A conservative is someone who wants to conserve, more specifically, to conserve the laws or way-of-life of the past. What we consider to be Conservatives today generally base their ideology on sort of a Cold-War era 1950's type government, they want to "conserve" the past and do not enjoy the "change" we are seeing over the last few decades.
Ron Paul is a liberal, which has been rebranded as libertarian so people won't confuse it with big-government left-wingers.
One thing I would like to explain to the people who don't understand Ron Paul's philosophy. He basically only focuses on his liberty views of the federal government, he is really a constitutionalist and a states rights advocate. Thus, he would not prevent states like Massachusetts from giving out healthcare, social security, food stamps, public housing, minimum wage, etc. He just does not believe in a one-size-fits-all system through coercion from the United States government. He believes the states are the equivalent of sovereign nations(many states have populations exceeding that of the majority of European countries). And the states will do what is in the best interests of the people of those states. If California wants to legalize weed, then there should be no federal law or restriction placed on California to prohibit it from doing so. If Oklahoma wants to make alcohol illegal, it has the right. And so on and so forth.
Its called self-determination, it is a founding principle of America. Ron Paul also believes in secession. Secession was the tool used to make America its own nation, when it seceded from England.
It wasn't long ago that conservative meant "one who believes in small government" or a conservative government, meaning you accepted that government has some role, but its small to conserve it.
most Democrats don't have a clue about the real Reagan. Paul is not a true conservative; fiscally maybe, but there is more to it than fiscal issues. He is a libertarian and btw, in many ways so was Reagan.

Reagan was a libertarian in very few ways. Probably stating
"Government is the problem, not the solution" except he
ate his own words when he doubled the size of government
during his presidential terms.

Being conservative or liberal is subjective. Both groups believe in pieces of Libertarianism. Reagan and Libertarianism should not be in the same sentence. Unless said sentence is, "Reagan is not a Libertarian".
Ron Paul's political ideology is more popular in San Francisco than it is in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Ron Paul is an ACTUAL CONSERVATIVE.
Unlike all these fake conservatives like Mitt Romney.
