Its funny how politicians who have business credentials all run on this platform of "small Government." They like to reiterate the statement that they have run a business and Obama has not. I thought a business is suppose to grow, and get bigger and bigger until it can gobble up other businesses. How can they transform government with a business background when they have to in effect promise to do the opposite of what they did as businessmen?

We don't need to run government like a business. We need government to what it needs to do and then businesses need to do what they need to do.

I'm sure we can all agree on one thing, we need better politicians. Having said that the premise is professional background is a consideration as to who should be elected? Considering about 50% of Congressman are lawyers and would be an overwhelming majority of any profession represented in Congress it's quite obvious we need to get rid of lawyers. Obama is lawyer.

I think that figure for Congress is more like somewhere in the 80% range are lawyers.

YouTube - ‪Bill Maher New Rules 3/6/2011 : Government is not a business‬‏

It doesn't. Look at Rick Scotts approval rating in Florida. Thank you, tea party.

Ahh seems I was quoting the numbers for the Senate, the numbers for 2006 from the ABA:

Quote:
| Young Lawyers Division (http://www.americanbar.org/groups/young_lawyers/initiatives/choose_law/trivia.html - broken link)

7. In 2006, what percentage of the U.S. Senators are lawyers?

53%

8. In 2006, what percentage of the U.S. Congressmen are lawyers?

36%

9. How many U.S. presidents were also lawyers?

25 (of the forty-three presidents).
From a few sources both Senate and the House puts the total at about 37% for the current Congress.

Businesses often like to grow. So don't complain if a former businessman elected to Congress acts to grow the government when he promised to shrink it.
