Umm no, the state can never do as it pleases because the citizens vote!!! ...unless they are so busy exercising their freedoms, as taught by their parents, to slam the government. Or, perhaps, as taught by their parents, they chose to not learn them when and where they should have...in school.

States are forcing children and teachers alike to recite the Pledge of Allegiance under penalty of law. Have you not read any of the posts in this thread?

If they are being taught that authority (state) is superior, why would they vote for liberty?

You don't find it at all strange that a socialist created it to advance socialism and now conservatives call me a commie for not reciting it? His plan worked!

So are they enforcing this ? How many teachers/students have been brought up on charges of "not reciting the Pledge" ?

Yes, the laws are being enforced. Teachers are fired and students are punished if they refuse to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in many states.

Lamar, they are so much against God that they have allowed themselves to be taken advantage of by the far left leaders. The Pledge doesn't say anything about the government since republic is a form of such and not the thing. They have been had and are willing to do away with the Pledge as well as the Constitution which the far left hates, also.

I think I can bring some proof about how little our kids in school know about our history and why they need to know some of it. The NEP put out some test scores recently about what various age groups of students now about our history and it is sickening. However, how can they now anything they aren't being taught?

It is getting sadder and sadder all the time and it is not the fault of the kids but damned sure is of the schools and the education we provide for those kids.

Children do not understand those concepts...and could care less either...they just know it makes them feel good to be standing "One Nation Under God " Makes em feel secure....
They are pledging allegience to one of the national symbols of our United States...THE FLAG

Don't care who wrote it..children don't either.
You have never been called called a "commie" by anyone ..at least not in this thread..you may have been called "un-American". Big difference..learn it.

The guy that wrote the Pledge may have been a socialist but he wrote it in an attempt to teach school children and immigrants about patriotism. It was published in a childrens mag in conjunction with the commencement of the national observence of Columbus Day which coincided with the start of the Worlds Columbian Exposition of 1892 in Chicago. That picture of the kids looking like they are giving the Hitler salute..was actually called the Bellamy Salute..started with the palm down but ended with the palm up...it was changed because it did resemble the Hitler Salute.... Why don't you go to wikkipedia and actually read it... The pledge is about the FLAG..it has always been about the FLAG and always will be about the FLAG.

I didn't read the whole thing but failed to see any punishment the school levied against that kid. I did see these words about the law and found that the kid probably didn't have a signed note from his parents saying he didn't have to stand.

The lawsuit also challenges a Florida law and a Palm Beach County school board policy mandating that students receive written permission from their parents before declining to recite the patriotic oath.

This seems to me to be typical ACLU challenging of state law and that part of their case should make the whole thing suffer.

Since this was printed in 2005 I would think that the courts have ruled and ruled about this one.

The kids should just be forced to acknowledge and recite facts.

"I pledge allegiance to the tax payers of the United States of America.
Who provide me with a public school to attend.
One nation, divided, because liberals think socialism is the way to go.
With liberty and justice for all legal American Citizens."
