I guess the "One nation under God" part has a lot of people up in arms.

I think that was added in the 1950's. So take it out if it bothers some people. Go back to the original pledge.

As I said, if the "one nation under God" part bothers some parents, then go back to the original phrasing of the pledge.

The words of the pledge don't bother me, I think it reinforces unity among all citizens to say it. Afterall, you do reside in the USA, and if you're a citizen, what's the problem?

I guess I was brainwashed, because every time I see our flag at the airport in the customs section when I return home from being in a foreign country I get a little choked up with pride.

I understand the suffering and sacrifice that holds the stitches of that flag together.
To me it is the original pledge that I have a problem with. It was created by a socialist to indoctrinate us into pledging our allegiance to the state. Once the masses blindly follow, the state can do as it pleases.

And you think once people stop saying the pledge the government will stop doing what it pleases ? Really ?

Kids don't vote..adults do.
There are worse things going on to create "the collective" in schools than saying the pledge once in the morning.

Sure there are worse things. But little bits of government control add up.

Nether, I don't force conformity on any peaceful person. They should take that time learning the constitution.

With several generations child coming of age marching in lock-step conformity is it any wonder the government does what it wants and what the majority dictates?
