Clearly, big pharma is only in therapeutics for the money, but do pharma scientists sit on magic bullet cures while only releasing treatments for disease A, B, or C?

I thought that was pretty much common knowledge. Not only that, but they patent them so that others don't research or use the cures that they don't want to use. Though to be fair, this is increasingly a problem with corporations and patent law in general.

I've always been interested in how the pharmacists and chemists who developed these things feel about it.

Trying to understand your reasoning here. Big pharma is only in it to make money, but they sit on cures (not receiving any money).

If they had a magic cure to cancer, don't you think they would be able to charge any amount of money for it and be fabulously rich?

Personally I think the easier conspiracy to spot is supplements. Just put a few case studies from some hypochondriacs in a magazine or better yet AM talk radio infomercial, bypass FDA requirements that apply to medications including double blind studies and make some serious money from the desperate.

Is the system abused? Absolutely. Is there a conspiracy? No. I think we should all know by now that anything requiring secrecy by more than one person is doomed to fail. Drugs are not bad and keep many people alive and healthy.
