In all forms, DU is radioactive and chemically toxic, thus conforming to Hague's poisonous weapons definition. Using them is thus a war crime.

DU is pretty screwed up but I don't think it fits the definition of a nuclear weapon. No fission or fusion is occurring. It'd fall under radiological weaponry if anything. And it's a crime against our own troops as well, ever heard of Gulf War Syndrome?

LOL...can't wait to see how the leftist droids who complained bitterly over the use of DU in Iraq and Afghanistan think it now is okay to use by their boy Obama in Libya....

Depleted Uranium is not a nuclear weapon.

I've seen some pretty ignorant articles with regards to weapons related issues, written by people with little knowledge of what they are talking about. The link in the OP....right at the top of the list.

Depleted uranium is a very hard, dense metal, no more, no less. That density helps penetrate "hardened" objects, such as tank armor. It is not a friggin' nuclear bomb.

I disagree with our involvement in Lybia, but articles based on ignorance don't help make a case.

The common meaning of "nuclear weapon" is a device that explodes with a very high energy release. Depleted uranium bullets, although still very mildly radioactive poisonous metal, do not go BOOM.

Depleted Uranium?
I've never heard of this before reading this article.
Is it a violation of the Geneva Convention to use DU?

Mechanical engineering degree, 25 years in the engineering field and some amount of effort researching military weapons. Not that any high school junior that didn't sleep his way through science class wouldn't see through that article.
