The honor system doesn't work here - too many tightwads who would want to get blood from a turnip and pay pennies on a dollar.
If you accept those wages then that is up to you. If no one accepts then the employer will have to raise the rate until people start applying for the position. That is how the markets work. A business cannot grow without people willing to do the work at the wage offered for their labor.
When I took my first job in high school the "minimum wage" was $2.85/hour. If I worked the night shift, I could get $3.35. I had no experience That is the TRAINING WAGE. Once you get skilled you become more valuable to the employer and thus eligible for a raise so the employer does not have to go through the expense of training someone again from scratch.
Your rate of pay should be based on the value of your labor.
If that really worked, slums wouldn't exist in places like China and India where 5-6 different families have to live together and survive on breadcrums just so they don't starve.
I'd rather not import that lifestyle to the states. I know republicans would love this though.
