The Republicans have played a successful game during Obama's presidency - by digging in their heels, they've gotten Obama to shift more and more right. Obama can't just dictate what he wants done, regardless of how many Righties claim he's a dictator, he has to get both parties in government to work things out if anything is to get done. I know a lot of Dems have openly wished that Obama would "twist arms like LBJ did," but in this political climate, I think the Repubs are of one mind to say "so what?" if he did try that. The only way to get Democratic presidents to act more liberally is to elect more liberal Congress members.
His liberal congress members are fuming. How do you explain this and his behavior? He has stated 80% of his base is against what he's doing. Sure seems he's on a republican course to get those kind of numbers.

No. He just heard that Martin Luther King and John Lennon were conservatives.

Which liberal members? If you're talking about Boxer and Pelosi, they voted FOR the Patriot Act, Guantánamo, etc.

I know it's hard for you all to accept, but he is actually one of you now. You'll have to stop the anti Obama threads you repubs. BTW, here is a description of marxism:

What is Marxism
Bush's policies? I don't remember a "Bush policy" that told the govt to purchase a car company or "spread the wealth" from the producers to the parasites.

He's just trying to win re-election. He knows that when push comes to shove, liberals will vote for him no matter what he does.

Obama throws out those percentage numbers left and right.
Which 80% ? Is he doing personal polls at night before he goes to bed ?

Stop believing the garbage that is coming out of the WH.
Can you not see this administration is all about fear and scare tactics ?

What if he said 15% of his base were against what he's doing ..would that have the same effect ?

Have you not noticed that WH propaganda has high percentage numbers for anything they want to do...70% and above with nothing to back them up. Why doesn't anyone question his numbers ? With the media in their back pockets everything is published as FACT.

Boy, is he wrong about that. THIS liberal will not vote for him. I imagine most won't. They'll vote 3rd party or they won't vote at all. Or, as a previous poster in this thread said (as was correct), they're all the same now. Big business owns politicians so what is really the point in voting anymore. They'll rig the election anyway. Wow, have things changed in this country.

Oh, just heard Obama is throwing out a bone. Don't ask, don't tell is going away soon. However, no guarantee of equal rights.

The problem is NOT that Barack Obama is a Republican in Democrat clothing. The problem is that he's NOT A LEADER. Never has been, never will be. I've been saying this for 2.5 years. He exhibits not one quality of a true leader. Not one. That's his problem. This guy is a mediator....reminiscent of his community organizing days. I'm not sure why Liberals had such a hard time figuring out that that's all he had to offer. The writing was on the wall in 2008, and yet here we are in 2011 explaining it once again to the Leftists. I think that's kind of embarrassing.
