He was a Free Mason. That doesn't indicate he was a very religious individual. They tend to be Unitarian types.

He actually belonged to a Free Mason lodge.
I have no idea. I never met the man. I just know he identified as Christian, although there is nothing in the new testament that would justify his actions. History is replete with acts of terror in the name of Christianity that have no basis in Christianity itself. Just an excuse to mask the real reasons of bigotry, greed, and other baser desires.

He also was very pro-gay.

I think he was more a Norwegian nationalist that spoke about preserving the Norwegian and European way of life.

Europe for the most part comprised of post-Christian nations. A bland kind of Christianity that is in favor of homosexual rights, abortion, nudity even on television and beaches, and so on.

I mean, how many times have we been told by "experts" on here that there really is no comparing conservative Americans to European so-called "conservatives"? Actually, we hear that after every liberal socialist gov falls.

So can we then assume a Norway version of right wing would be more in line with a moderate democrat?
He was to the right of Norwegian politics.. It is hard to classify him in an american system. He would be seen certainly as right of liberals. Best thing I can come up with is a Buchannon type Republican. Paleo Conservative. I think if you compare Buchannon and this guy they are almost spot on identical.

Anyhow you can get his religion right from the link posted by the OP.

He belonged to the Free Mason Knights Templar:

Yes, the delusions!
It's no secret that the Christians righties see themselves as the crowning glory of the human species.
Time to pass out the "Who? Us hate muslims?" tee-shirts.

So was this guy trying to protect this way of life. Did he fear that Islamic people would be trying to take away this way of life?

Was that the media identifying him as Christian or himself?

I doubt I will ever read his manifesto in full, but he didn't sound like an active Christian or involved in such from what I have looked at so far.

Hilarious how you in your infantilistic, far left clulessness accuse me of being a republican, just too funny. Don't speculate on what you know nothing about, dear.
I'm not your "dear" sugar pie!

YOU posted :

He just murdered 90 people and YOU LIKE HIM.

And insults to other posters, snuggybearkins, won't change what YOU posted.

And, of course, you deny being a rightie/Repug/Republican....no one's admitted that since Bush left office...it happens a lot in here

I really don't know what he was trying to do.

He should have stuck with writing I think. He maybe has (if he is the sole culprit) actually hurt his cause which was apparently to save Norway from the impending Islamic takeover.
