I haven't read that his references to the Knights Templar are connected to that part of Freemasonry that uses the name. You need to dig deeper to find the historical significance of the Knights Templar (not of Freemasonry) to understand why he'd be referring to it.
They were a Christian military order, approved by the Roman Catholic church, devoted to fighting the Muslim "infidels" in the Holy Land. He sees himself as a Christian soldier against multiculturalism and specifically Islam.

He is not a Catholic, he is a member of the Free Masons, and apparently a Free Mason Knights of Templar. Knights of Columbus is the Catholic group. He didn't just refer to the Free Masons Knights of Templar, he is a member of a lodge and the whole bit.
One Facebook site banned him because they thought he was a Nazi. It doesn't seem he is exactly a Nazi.
He writes too coherently to be just a raving mad lunatic, but it's difficult to see what he meant to achieve by what he did.
Here is the deal. Fundamentalism of any kind or purpose is a front for mental illness. Templar Knights, Christian Scientists, Revolutionary Guard, Jim Jones... these people were living in their own unique caves and then the internet popped. Now they see that mankind is moving towards association, freedom of choice and these freaks see the world moving away at light speed. They are angry committed to stopping progress whatever it's goal. Like the KKK, they are ready to act.
Have the tea partiers come up with a conspiracy yet?
False Flag
Aliens
etc
This guy seems to have Tea Party Supporter written all over.
The FBI and DHS has been warning about these extreme right types for a while.
Amazing how they can defend thugs like this. The guy could have been Employee of the Month at Auchwitz
The Catholic Church apparently considered the Knights of Templar to be some kind of heretic group. Somewhere along the line the Knights of Templar became associated with Free Masons.
Either there is proof or there isn't, and in this case there is nothing. Nothing, nada. It's in your head.
So what was the motive behind the bombing of a Government building... followed by a massacre of children and teenagers... by a member of the Norwegian chapter of the Free Masons?...
There is no "proof" of anything yet. Other than this guy was a kook of the highest order. And the police need to rethink their security measures.
