Yes, let's not forget India where social security is provided by having enough male children to provide for you in old age. Female babies are considered an unfortunate burden and not infrequently killed. Millions of people are born, live and die in squalor. In America, DINKS avoided having children because it's "such a bother", and chose to indulge themselves with good living and all the toys. That's much of what's wrong with SS: there aren't enough young workers now to pay in to support it. You reap what you sow.

Lets cut and reduce the billions and billions of squandered foreign aid every year. Let also reduce spending on the numerous wars, regional conflicts, and police actions we are involved in.

Yes indeed it is time to make significant changes to entitlement programs---to destroy them--no.

There is plenty of room to compromise on all this---its time to end this joke---it has become a dog and pony show and whole world is laughing at us. It is also clear that the American people have become fed up and disgusted over this political soap opera.

To all our elected officials----just do your job repsonsibly and without allegiance to ideological jargon and nonsense. Just do the right thing which is to start to make significant dent in the debt and start now----but please do not cause this govt to default and jeopardize the international community.

Raise the debt limit----than create a respected commission of dems and repubs to form a binding committee to come up with a workable solution to the debt problem. Give them power to have the findings implemented----I dont think a solution can be found under the current situation where idealogy and arrogance is more important than meeting our obligations and future challenges.

What ever money is in the fund would not be enough to pay for people over 50 retain social security benefits and also pay back all people under 50 what they have put into it. The money would have to come from somewhere else. I have no idea how much this would cost. Since no one is really looking into doing this, I don't think anyone has actually looked at the costs.

I am not saying I am against it per se, only that it is just not financially feasible.

Right, that would work so well with people moving from state to state. What you'd bring back is the county poor farm.

We will become an even greater society.
Really now? what do you tell disabled people who can't work and can't afford healthcare? What do you tell disabled Vets? Government isn't the problem it's selfish people like yourself that have probably made it & don't give a crap about others.
Remember the French Revolution started with the immortal words "Let them Eat Cake!"
Go try and take away SS, Medicare & Medicaid and I can assure you that the rioting in the streets here will make the Greek riots look like a spring picnic!

That other door is called individual choice. What made this country great was the fact that each individual had complete control over themselves and were not beholden to any lord, king, or ruler.

Give people their money back and tell them they are their own leaders, their own rulers, their own lords and that what they do with what they have is their choice be it good or bad.

If the government wants to help, then be an adviser, a promoter, an instructor for those who would pay heed. Past that, there is nothing the government can do aside from stripping people of their individual choice.

Seek charity, there is plenty of it and let the private society be their benefactors. You would be surprised how much people are willing to help. Why in fact, they have made entertainment shows that are profitable on this very aspect. Have faith in your fellow man, they are far more generous than you give them credit for; however it is difficult to expect generosity from those you are stripping clean on the pretense of doing good for others. Give people a chance, we will and do good when left to our own decisions.

Vets are under contract with the government and due to their sacrafices, it is not unreasonable to see them taken care of. Though they are not the problem and in fact, if you pay attention, it seems they get the short end of the stick more often than not when compared to non-vets milking the system.

Such is the result of those who have become servants of a system, slaves to a government, and oppressors of those who would defend freedom.

"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

One of our founders said this, maybe you should do a bit more reading into the formation of a free society rather than the serving of that which would oppress us?

Disabled vets, the poor, etc...bulldoze them into mass graves.
Take away SS, Medicare & Medicaid...but have troops ready for the riots. Shot anyone who wants to start something.
Selfish people make a nation a great nation!

You must live in LA LA Land if you think charities can completely take care of the poor & disabled in this country! Why is it you people always want to throw the weakest of our society under a bus while calling yourselves "Christians"? You should be calling your selves "facists" instead because it really stinks of Heil "Hitler" to me!

I'm not even going to break down the silly elements of your 'plan'. You seem to know so much...where's your data? Feel free to grow a set and actually back up your plan here instead of acting like a 6 year old.
