"Touching a Tar Baby" has the connotation of leaving the toucher as permanently stained as if the "touched" a black person. Calling someone a tar baby is not a term of endearment.
This is the crux of the issue for me - you can debate the connotation in which Lamborn used the term all you want, but to flatly deny there is any racial/racist connotation just makes them seem disingenious.

Agreed. Though I will give Lamborn the benefit of the doubt (), some of these posters are just being willfully ignorant.
I belive Liberals on this thread are guilty of willfully spinning an insensitive comment into a racist comment. I find it deplorable, and completely representative of Liberal Ideology as whole. You folks simply know no bounds as to how low you will stoop.
This guy is guilty of insensitivity, not racism.
I believe each and every one of you know how ignorant you sound, but yet it stops none of you. Disgusting.
It's called projection. It's when one (often incorrectly) "projects" their own beliefs or biases onto someone else.
'SPLAIN' that to me.
So, I am projecting my belief (or bias) onto you, that I don't really know I have, at you?
Kinda like unconscious insulting?
