A seat at the President's birthday party! From the party of compassion for the little guy that stands up to the rich, $40k, is pocket change for everyone invited to the 50 year olds b-day party.

Add another zero to the right end of that number if you want to go to any prominent Republican's birthday party.

Greg, you forgot to be disgusted by the pandering to the wealthy by Obama.

An oversight on your part I am sure.

Despite Bo's bombastic and shameful behavior, I live comfortably on 40K yearly, though my earning power is much more.

While I am not pleased by President Obama's "pandering" to the rich, a 40 k contribution to the cause is pocket lint to the fabulously wealthy core of the Republican Party.

IMHO this dominance of politics by money and moneyed people is threat to our Republic and Representative Democracy. The sheer amount of money required simply excludes 90% or more of the population from ever running for major office. This assures the wealthy will be able to dominate social and financial issues.

The current debate over increased debt or social programs is an example. For the last forty years the Republican financial elite has been increasing the deficit instead of paying taxes in order to overwhelm the government with interest payments so spending on broad distribution social programs became impossible. Their long term strategy is working. It will cut social programs instead of raising taxes on the wealthy that are the government. No surprise there.

I am not pleased with President Obama or the leadership of the Democratic Party but I truly fear the Republican plutocrats and their intentions for the United States. I fear this will become an impoverished country with a perpetual political aristocracy ruling for their own benefit at the cost to the other 99% of the population.

Well it must be pocket lint to the fabulously wealthy core of the Dem party...unless the common working people are pooling all their money to send people...

There are houses in this area for that, older homes for sure but not run down or in bad areas....
This should illustrate how out of touch the parties are with the people
Yet some still cling to the blatant lie about the Dems being for the little guy...
