This is a response to a lot more than police brutality. Self-destructive riots like this don't happen because of an isolated event, they are the result of years of pent-up frustration, isolation, and boredom. This is a poor community where over half of the local youth centers have been closed.

Foolish, angry, young people turn to violence after an event which they see as an injustice, and the apex of discourse here is "multiculturalism has failed".

It's possible to condemn the actions of the rioters and still try to understand the conditions that provoked their actions. To suggest that this riot, which is by and large not indicative of Tottenham's complete population, points up the failure of a diverse society is...well...the retards aren't just at Daily Kos.

Haha, wow. Yeah, this is what's going on at the New York Times, not effete Western liberal political correctness. Definitely the legacy of the USSR. Put down the pipe, this is one of the more idiotic connections I've read on this board.

Ah, now more details are pouring out. The thug who was shot by police was a gangster on his way to kill a rival gang member. Police intercepted and told him to get out of the car, whereupon he pulled a gun on them and shot at the police officer, hitting his radio instead (lucky for the cop). The police RETURNED FIRE and the criminal was shot dead.

As usual when low life thugs get extinguished, "their peoples" come out in riotous defense, and that is what is happening in London now.

The problem is that all the resources for being patient and understanding to "angry" people have been exhausted. There are many groups and cultures with problems, we can't afford to take time and money to solve their problems. Eventually they will have to start to improve on their own. If they want violent escalation eventually there will be civil war against people who simply want society to be servants to them without them doing anything productive by themselves.

Unreasonable people do not have reasons for what they do. Quit trying to give this some sort of dignity or glory. It's just BS.

Your words in bold are a HUGE CLUE to the problem: a group of people do not know right from wrong and therefore have a great many "misperceptions."

Complete BS. They're like spoiled children. Not to mention idiots. We're unhappy with our situation, so lets destroy our own neighborhoods. Brilliant. Dumbasses.

Political correctness is a term that originated from communist. Become educated a little bit in the topic before making cliched and weak responses.

So basically, it's everyone else's fault for not giving them more youth centers? Are you serious?

Yes, killing people who shoot at cops is quite unjust. Multiculturalism has failed. Hell, it never worked in the first place.

They occur anywhere a decaying civilization that focuses primarily on sophistry and an underclass influenced by a culture of ignorance and violence clash against each other.

Similar thing is occurring in Malaysia where there is racial violence against Chinese and Indian immigrants.
