"Saying teachers need to be free to discuss controversial subjects, a federal appeals court has dismissed a student's lawsuit against a high school history instructor whose classroom comments poked fun at creationism and religious fundamentalism."
"While teachers discussing issues like religion "must be sensitive to students' personal beliefs," the court said, "teachers must also be given leeway to challenge students to develop their critical thinking skills."
Unbelievable leeway, wouldn't you say? Especially, in light of a recent story (link below) in which a public school teacher was suspended for stating his religious beliefs against same sex marriage, NOT in the classroom, but at his home using his personal computer on his personal FaceBook page on his personal time.
Apparently, separation of church and state does not apply when a teacher is mocking religion because teachers should feel free to express themselves however they want and students forced to listen to it. But there no longer exists freedom to express religious opinions in one's personal time/space.

Indeed ... The decadence in America these days is unprecedented .. and it appears that these are the very folks who deeply desire to flush the real America down the toliet !
Seemingly America is in great peril from within ! ... "Question : Do the Patriotic American's whom remain among us feel the same way or not ???
What does it take to wake up a nation of "Good American Folks' ??? Jest Askin Y'all !
May we begin the long and difficult road back to the "Real America" ! ... just as the "Founding Fathers" would have wanted us too !!! !
Cheers ... Old Sgt. Lamar

I can see a good reason for this. I've seen "on fire" teenagers (usually recently converted in a fun youth group or something) openly challenge their teachers with no actually biblical knowledge anyway. I wish religion would be kept out completely but with the religious folks pushing to keep it in I don't know how you are going to have perfection here. Learn to accept that there will continue to be issues resulting from both sides or accept that it should be there, period. You have zero say in the matter.
Oh noes!!11! Free speech!!1!! Whatever shall we do?!?!1/1??
I wonder if many of those who support the decision would also support the teachers agenda if it was changed to gay, race, those with disibilities? I wonder if the mocking would then be acceptable.

Of course not.
In fact, it will be "interesting" to see what happens to the teacher who tries this with the Islamic religion.
