Which do you believe and why:

A) Every American citizen is Entitled to the Best Healthcare they can Afford

or

B) For American citizens, the quality of health care should not be predicated on their ability to pay. In other words, poor citizens deserve the same quality of health care as wealthy citizens.

This should be a poll. I choose "B."

I don't like polls.

I am really more interested in the "why" than the "which"

For the record, I choose B as well.

None of the above.

There should be a minimum standard of care to which all Americans are entitled. Anything beyond that standard should be available to anyone who can pay for it.

A. All Americans should be treated equally under the law. This includes paying the same thing as someone else for the same service.

I support B because we spend more money on health care than every other industrial nation, yet we are the only one without universal coverage. Something is wrong there. If they can pay less for more coverage, we can too.

Option A. Without question.

Option B only contributes to the entitlement complex the people of this country are developing and gives them less incentive to become successful in life. Why should people strive for excellence when mediocrity will earn them the same benefits?

A
period.

that person who relies on free healthcare doesnt belong in the same hospital as someone who pays $1k+ a month for his family.

the reason we have the best healthcare in the world is we dont give it away.
capitalism allows the Dr's to get a return on their investment.
socialised (obamacare) does not. there is no incentive for people to become Doctors.

Assumes facts not in evidence. I can think of no serious expert in healthcare that would consider us to have the "best healthcare in the world."

Ok. That's interesting.

How would you envision the minimum standard? Where is the line drawn? I assume chemotherapy is part of that standard, but what about child birth? circumcision? Diabetes supplies? Hospice?
