This is astonishing, local politicians looking after European companies before their own citizens.
Allowing IKEA to get away with paying $8 hr in Danville compared with a minimum of $19 in Sweden, the mind boggles
And of course no supplied health care in Danville compared with universal health care in Sweden.
Eight days vacation time, wow that is generous.

So a question, is IKEA paying these low rates in the USA because American workers have low productivity ? or is it because local politicians do not care about their citizens ?

What do local politicians have to do with it? I wasn't aware that politicians set pay scales between employees and employers. Though the way things are going, it's only a matter of time.

Your state politicians are the ones who should be setting the minimum wage at a reasonable level.
But, it seems they believe their duty is toward European companies instead.

It's called minimum wage for a reason.

Basically their healthcare and vacation time and wage is mandated by the Swedish government.

This has been in place a long time in the U.S. , disequity and plantation/slave wages...

South Carolina has the highest amount of mobile homes and few jobs.

Most banks have their call centers in Huntington, West Virginia or Kentucky, where they can pay slave wages. They moved from So. Florida to India when workers standards of living were raised.
