I have seen the word racism used against the Tea Party too much (I'm guilty of that as well) so I thought I would set teh record straight.

The meaning of racism is a belief that differences in intelligence or traits among different people can be entirely due to one's race. A racist is one who practices racism.

Discrimination is prejudicial treatment of an individual based on his race and forming stereotypes of that individual.

The two words are often used interchangeably by the public but there is a subtle difference.

My impression of Tea Partiers are that they hate Obama because he is Black. But I don't believe Tea Partiers think Obama is stupid or can't lead because he is Black (rather because he is a Democrat).

Tea Partiers are not racist against Obama because of his race. Rather they discriminate against him.

Tea Party supporters are hated because they speak the truth and that pisses a lot of people off.

There are certainly some tea partiers who don't like Obama simply because he's black just as there some Democrats and Republicans that don't like him because he's black. However, most of the ones who don't like him wouldn't like him if his skin was red white and blue. We don't like his failed policies. That's neither racism or discrimination. That's American politics.

Why does it always come down to "because he is black". Try inept, with a razor thin resume coming into the Presidency. The VAST majority of his opponents could care LESS what color the guy is. Of course if you take the stance that it is race, you can avoid the difficult task of defending his lack of ability.

Some folks just are not into socialism or communism, pure and simple, race has nothing to do with it.

I expect the entire campaign will be one baseless accusation of racism after another because Obama's supporters literally have nothing they can call an accomplishment.

Tea baggers don't like Obama because he's black and he's a Democrat. They hate both of those. I discriminate as well. I discriminate against stupidity therefore I discriminate against tea baggers.

I don't discriminate. I do however choose to minimize my exposure to those that insist on proudly proclaiming their own bigotry and ignorance.

Welcome to ignore.
