Definitely Jefferson. Ron Paul is Jefferson-esque, but he is no Jefferson. The sad thing is, even if Jefferson had never owned slaves or espoused any racist sentiments(which wouldn't have happened if he had lived in modern times), he would never be electable in our modern day. He had a lisp, rarely ever spoke in public. The media would avoid him like the plague.

I believe that Jefferson had to be the most intelligent man to ever be president. The man kept impeccable records, wrote wonderful speeches, penned the Declaration of Independence, and ended the slave-trade into the United States without any major issue.

“I think this is the most extraordinary collection of talent and of human knowledge that has ever been gathered together at the White House – with the possible exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone." - John F. Kennedy to a congregation of nobel laureates.

Mixture of John Adams and The Bull Moose Teddy.

John Adams and Teddy are in the top ten of Most intelligent Presidents. Jefferson, JQ Adams and John Adams usually fight for first depedning on the survey.
