Here's what's so funny:

"I know many of the more famous anti-vaccine advocates fairly well. These are people who earn a living outside of their AV activities. They don't do this for money, they do it for the cause."

Now take a look at Mercola's website:

Natural Health Products by Dr. Joseph Mercola

Sounds like a snake-oil salesman to me!

Here's Sears':

Dr. Sears Family Essentials | Nutrition for Healthy Kids

Ditto!

That being said, I know a few creeps, yes. Every cause has them.

Let me tell you this though. We don't have anyone in the AV community with enough audacity to make hundreds of millions of dollars off patents and speaking engagements, as a direct or indirect result of their advocacy.

You have at least one. Your most vocal. Dr. Paul Offit.

If you want to talk about profiting from a cause. Check the pro-vaccine side. BILLIONS are made off of vaccines. Thousands, at best, are made in the process of speaking against them.
The HOLY GRAIL of the AV crowd was what turns out to be a hackjob funded by plaintiff attorneys suing drug companies....for billions.

I know this much:
1) There have CLEARLY been problems with medicines in the past.
2) No vaccine is going to ever be perfect without incident or problem.
3) The historic track record of vaccines against scourges like polio is well established.
4) There is a lot of outright lying and crackpot laced bad information that makes me have to take several grains of salt before believing anything out of the AV movement.

P.S. The nuclear industry makes billions. Alex Jones makes thousands and says the reactor on the Iowa\Nebraska border was melting down this summer. Lesson to learn there.

Adverse inference is justified when facts are withheld.

Yes, they're doctors. They have to make money.

....but they're not making $300,000,0000 plus while advocating their business. They make a living, just like you and I. Neither one of them makes more than 6 figures.

In fact, I know another doctor who shall remain nameless that does speaking engagements, and has a practice.

I met him when times were tough. I couldn't afford his services, and he didn't take insurance.

So, off the record, he worked with me to help my son at night, for free. Never asked for a dime.

The other doctor my son had, who did accept insurance, before he retired, would talk with me on the phone at MIDNIGHT if I had questions.

Never have I experienced the dedication that I've experienced with these doctors. Never.

Don't believe the pro-vax hype until you've walked a mile in this community. You will never meet a group of more caring and dedicated folks than I have in this community.

How do you know the underlined? Seen their tax returns?

The doctors I work with also do free care and talk to patients at midnight. It's part of their training.

Sigh.

If only they could go beyond their training.

And do what? Refuse to see patients for free? Refuse to talk to patients at midnight?

Well, ya know, there's "training", and then there's thinking.

Honest question. Why are you so bitter and biased toward these folks?

It doesn't seem like you're willing to give them points for anything, but are willing to jump to conclusions and make negative suppositions against them without batting an eye. Any reason?

What's stupid is defending a lunatic website filled with lunatics like whale to. That's what's stupid.

So doctors can make money just as long as they don't actually give you something that works.

The homeopath with the distilled water at fifty-five bucks a glass is just fine. The guy with the two dollar MMR shot that will prevent you and your child from getting dreadful diseases that no one you know has ever had is to be distrusted every turn.

Yeah that makes sense.
