It seems to me that he tried very hard but the Dems who were in the minority in Congress managed to keep the GSEs protected from the truth getting out. I am sure that everyone here over 30 has heard all these things although some over that age refuse to accept the truth.

Um, fannie was created in the mid 1930's and was "privatized" in the 1960's, well before Bush taking over

Continue with your "its all Bushs fault", even if the result is people laughing at you.
Hmmmmmm, I think that a Democrat President Johnson and a Democrat Congress did the privatizing.
Some people just love to accuse Bush of privatizing everything he could. They went wild when he tried to get 4 or 5% of Social Security privatized and they just couldn't stop saying he wanted to do it all for the whole thing. Of course, they had to have something they could use to defeat his attempt.
My son, who was 25 at that time, was really excited to think that he would have control of some of his SS. Of course, he didn't think there would be any money for him at 65 the way thing were going.
This one has made me wonder if either party of Congress gives a damn about the people who elect them. They just spend all their time fighting each other. I guess that wasn't what the Dems were doing when they were the minority party in 2006. They managed to defeat anything to do with Freddie and Fannie by just threatening a filibuster in the Senate. The committee, we don't do things by committee in the Senate these days, approved the bill but the Leader let the thing die without debate. That sounds a lot like the Senate today.
I recall watching these videos and even remember the house testimony and still the liberals refuse to see the truth.
I've given up even trying to argue with libs about this. Before GWB, the WSJ was publishing article after article warning about the risks created by FNM.
The lib mantra is Wall Street bad, big banks bad. And it stops there.
