Obama: America's Gone 'Soft' | The Weekly Standard

Quote:
"I mean, there are a lot of things we can do," Obama said. "The way I think about it is, you know, this is a great, great country that had gotten a little soft and, you know, we didn't have that same competitive edge that we needed over the last couple of decades. We need to get back on track."
I guess they realized the George Bush thing has finally worn out and there was no one left to blame but you and me.

In other words American workers are now directly competing with slave labor communist china and other slave labor countries. If you can't compete well then your "soft." Americans are over paid. Most jobs can be done for five dollars a day and a bowl of rice.
We (you all) need to sacrifice. You shouldn't be going to Las Vegas...

And that, folks, is a first prize winning example of taking a quote completely out of context.

Now watch as a fairly innocent remark grows arms and legs and eventually ends with a big "THREAD CLOSED" sign, after degenerating into an "I hate Obama more than you" contest.

All told, pretty pathetic really.

And it was mostly his own money.
Did you complain with Bush's costs? Didn't think so.

If he earned his money, it's his right to spend it any way he sees fit.

George Bush made a lot of seemingly non-stupid people stupid, by his leadership license.

This license to be stupid made a lot of stupid people happy by the empowerment of authority.

In the old days, stupid people were embarrassed by their stupidity, but with Bush came the onset of stupid kool.

Being stupid, or faking it, has become a survival skill in this country.

Sarah Palin is getting rich off it.

Actually you and I earned the money then were forced to spread the wealth.

The setimated account of expenses for the Obama trip and found that, before factoring in unknown costs, taxpayers forked over almost $1.5 million. Here’s how the paper broke it down:

Mrs. Obama’s early flight to Hawaii: $63,000 (White House Dossier)
Obama’s round trip flight to Hawaii: $1 million (GAO estimates)
Housing in beachfront homes for Secret Service and Seals in Kailua ($1,200 a day for 14 days): $16,800
Costs for White House staff staying at Moana Hotel: $134,400 ($400 per day for 24 staff) – excluding meals and other room costs
Police overtime: $250,000 (2009 costs reported by Honolulu Police Department)
Ambulance: $10,000 (City Spokesperson)
TOTAL COST: $1,474,200

Well, we are responsible for what happens in this country.

[and for what doesn't]

Such is, and has always been the way of the world, my friend.

Show me one country in the world with a poor head of state
It isn't solely an American problem.

It's an unfortunate side effect of a world which is obsessed with money, fame and power.

BS, have you EVER been on a presidential mission or not? I have, it was not a vacation, but do you think they do not provide the same amount of security during vacation time?

Lame of you to think that way....his security was there 2 weeks prior, making sure everything was just right, the numerous rehersals that were done to check the routes....it's weeks of planning even for a vacation....

BTW, Chitose July 2008, we were the Chinook crew that was with the presidential mission.

Not entirely. Not when previous administrations enact trade agreements that make it all but impossible for US based companies to compete. Ross Perot's giant sucking noise realized.
