this to bail out Freddie/Fannie in the rehabbing of homes that are "unmarketable" instead of leaving these to be auctioned "as is" and rehabbed through the private sector?

Huh??? All the democrats but two voted in favor of job creation and balancing the budget. The GOP blocked the bill as they will not support anything that doesn't allow them to keep bankrolling the rich and mega corporations on taxpayer dime.
All the Repubs are on record plus a couple of Dems. That is what the vote was for. There was never any thought a filibuster could be avoided. There will be more votes on the individual pieces. More recorded votes .....
So this is why dirty harry never brings a vote in the senate...just tables them...he does not want to go on record....
1) The bill voted on was not the bill obama submitted - that bill was so toxic among dems that Reid had to change Senate rules to AVOID a vote on it.
2) Several dems who voted yes on cloture made it clear that that they would vote no on passage. If they were being truthful, an up or down vote would have failed anyway. As Sanrene said, that would have been a huge repudiation of obama - he should be breathing a sigh of relief that it didn't happen.
This fiasco again highlights that obama's incompetence knows no bounds. He didn't bother to consult his own party in the Senate to devise a bill that would get 100% of their support, even after Reid changed the most egregious provisions. And to actually "win" the debate without winning the vote, he needed a vote or two from the ME or MA repubs. Instead he proposed a bill that was politically painless for them to oppose.
Republicans voted against it. Of course he's going to blame the Republicans.
Remember, there are only 46 republicans, one didn't vote due to surgery, and there were 49 votes against it.
Additionally, there are 2 more democrats and an independent who have stated that unless there are alterations to the bill, they will vote against final passage.
No, we didn't lose. It was the Republicans that lost. They are making a mockery of the Senate rules and a mockery of the filibuster. That makes them losers
Now you are just getting frustrated....Harry Reid did not even vote for this bill....please tell me how and why it's the republicans fault?
If your going to complain about the reubs "tableing" a bill, then you better be complaining about Harry "tableing" all those bills that passed the house...with both repub and dem votes...
