How does one justify having that many full-time military if they are all state-side?
I'm guessing that when the OP talks about bringing them 'all' home, this would include those in Germany, Japan, the DMZ between North and South Korea and so on and so on.

Doesn't seem very realistic.

You will get no argument from me. He is not a fiscal conservative either. However, it is likely that the GOP will retain control of the House after the 2012 election, which means we can expect to see Speaker Boehner leading the House until at least 2014. This does not bode well for the next President (whomever it may be), who traditionally gets blamed for acts of Congress by ignorant voters. I just hope we get a budget sometime between now and 2014.

National security isn't a federal issue? That's interesting.

I fully agree Ron Paul doesn't have the spine to say he will cut Social Security.

He uses the code words "work to maintain it"...which means balancing SS long term deficit with cuts to benefits. He calls it a "ponzi scheme".

He's sly and the Ron Paulers here are being coy.

That's a waste in spending... We don't have to police other countries... Let them worry about themselves...

I'm not saying that. I'm just questioning how far anyone has thought this through.
I certainly would love for the U.S to reduce the bloat in the defense department, but, let's face it, it is the biggest jobs program we've got going right now.
Exactly what will it be replaced with? Or are we looking at even more homeless veterans?

It's all fine and sustainable, Math is just a Right wing conspiracy, we just need to print and borrow and tax more $$$ and everything will be fine.....
