EMPORIA, Va. (AP) — Don't look for Democrats in fiercely contested Virginia legislative elections to join President Barack Obama as he brings his campaign-style American Jobs Act bus tour to three cities in this state.
And don't expect Tim Kaine, the former Democratic National Committee chairman and Virginia's governor two years ago, to join his old ally either.
ROCKY MOUNT, Va. — Three years ago, Democrats in Virginia couldn’t get enough of Barack Obama — a popular, transformational figure running for his first term as president.
But as Obama arrives in Virginia Tuesday for a two-day swing to promote parts of his jobs plan, some Democrats are distancing themselves from him — even in supposedly blue Northern Virginia.
Ah yes, couldn't get enough of him...what a devastating change of fortune.
Now, these same dems are praying he'll stay away from their area.
In fact, it's reported obama changed his schedule at the request of dems in tight races.
It will be interesting to see what Kaine does in 2012 and if he will distance himself from Obama. The race should be exciting as he and George Allen {R} square off. Talk about between a rock and hard place, does he want to be seen with Obama or not? This could get good.
Which isn't by any means going to make them cozy up to someone like Romney or Perry.
You're right. They'll just cozy up to their couch in November. As Dems will undoubtedly try to assert, that's just as good as voting Republican.
