Just wondering how people feel about Term Limits, specifically Presidential
If a President is doing a great job doing his presidency. (As defined by his supporters of course).
Do you think a President should be allowed to Serve more then 2 Terms?
I'm not saying get rid of the elections every 4 years.
I just believe that if a President has good policies he/she should not be "forced out" after 8 years.
He should allowed to run to stay in office (defend his seat), or eligible to run again in the future.
Do you support the Maximum 2 Terms for presidents.
The Twenty Second Amendment...
Two terms works well. No need for a control SOB to gather too much influence, regardless of achievements. If he's that good, he can lead without the constraints of politics.
I support term limits for Congress as well. It's not enough that 'That's what elections are for' crap. Too many Reps or Senators have played the cards to their own benefit, with few rewards for citizens. Elections are just a way to get into office, and fail as a way to police the Congressman.
How about we use the term limits that are already in place?
House of Representatives - 2 years before they have to reup.
President - 4 years before they have to reup.
Senate - 6 years before they have to reup.
We already have term limits, if people of the state in question want to reassign them to duty, thats their business. Elections are term limits.
Those who espouse term limits as a fix to government ills are usually upset that a neighboring state or district has elected someone that they don't like mutiple times. No one in Tennessee, Florida, or New York has any right to tell California who to vote for, and vice versa.
I like the idea in a sense, but we shouldn't use term limits as a reason to make politicians act more courageous. But as it is, these clowns won't do anything principled so long as they plan to run for another election.
The main problem is that the American people are a bunch of idiots. This bullsh*t about "throw the bums out" is laughable. More often than not, they end up putting incumbents back in office and vote for people that give incumbents every advantage.
Mitch McConnell once said quite publicly that "the American people don't care where we get our money from." LMAO....aint like he whispered it...he said it blatantly. And the dumbasses in Kentucky reelected him anyway. So whose fault is that?
Term limits is nothing more than people imposing terms on politicians because the voters can't help themselves when it comes to voting in the same idiots over and over again.

So you want to save most of the country from itself?
So you want to save most of the country from itself? How communist of you.
Huh?
Again, i like the sound of term limits, but i'd prefer that people would simply be smart enough to vote out tired incumbents on their own without changing the law.
Unfortunately, that's not the case. But oh well.
