I vote Legal. Plenty of countries in Europe to copy. Keep the cat houses discrete and away from schools and houses of worship.

Why would you rape someone just for the violence? Isn't it a lot easier to just beat them?

I always wondered how someone can get a chubby with the woman screaming and fighting them.

I wouldn't say that. It might decrease rape cases, but only by a small percentage. There is already adult services that offer companionship in disguise of prostitution, yet rape is still persistent.

Most men who commit rape are in the lower socio economic spectrum, so making them pay for what they want can still encourage them to rape women.

As for the question, yes, prostitution should be legalized but regulated.

Legalizing it will not stop rapes..Sheesh..Also, how could it be regulated? All the prostitute would need to do is accept cash then lie to the IRS.

It is not the role of government to enforce religious morals.

I think that prostitution should be legal; regulated and taxed.
this... treat it like any other business

Correct on the first point, irrelevant on the second.

I'm working under the assumption that no business on Earth reports every dime religiously. So there is no reason why prostitutes should either...i just want them to pay SOMETHING!!

That said, no one as yet can explain to me why a woman can give it away for free 20 times a day to 20 different men, and the police have absolutely no interest in what she's doing.

But if they spot a man slipping her a nickel, "whoops...gotta take her to jail!"

If that's not the most dumbassed thing on the planet, i don't know what is.

Americans have gotta get out of this mentality that works under this idiotic presumption that prosecution and jail works for everything under the sun. It's not the panacea for most of these social ills. And it sure has hell won't curtail prostitution...it just makes it worse.

Government should not tell me who I can have sex with and under what circumstances.

So yes, prostitution should be legal. And no, we don't need government regulation.

There will always be a market demanding prostitutes all over the price range from cheap and dirty to expensive and clean.
