why is it that in the richest nation in the world people are so harsh towards others, self righteous, hard hearted and greedy and this goes NOT just for the one percent. (though it definitely includes them) but many in the middle class as well.

people are bloodthirsty, self righteous, have an animal survival mentality all the time.

there are other nations where this level of Harshness doesn't exist. could it be that our hatred of socialism (which really means realizing that we're all a part of a community of souls and that we're all really one in nature) is the reason behind this.

if our friends and neighbors aren't doing well than WE aren't doing well... because that's the definition of doing well... didn't Jesus say that you're supposed to love others MORE than yourself? wouldn't this mean that EVERYONE"S well being is VERY IMPORTANT and SHOULD be to a truly SPIRITUAL SOCIETY... in american these teachings of Jesus are called evil by many of the religious right.

and this harsh animal mentality is called christ like and holy.

could this be what the bible meant about people becoming lovers of evil and believing that evil is good and that good is evil.

many people in american don't even know what goodness is because goodness has become demonized and evil has been thought of as what is good...

why is this?

You don't understand the definition of "greed". Greed is demanding an unearned benefit. It is not greedy to earn as much money as possible. It is greedy to demand some of that money without doing anything to earn it.

That just isn't true.

The least you could do is provide some basis for your erstwhile assumed premises. Otherwise, your "inquiry" is little more than a thinly disguised pretense for a narrow-minded rant.

We have been trained and are constantly reminded to be afraid of something. Fear makes anyone irascible, mean and nasty. We are also trained to relieve this fear by purchasing junk at Wall-mart or watching brainless TV or movies.

Because we're not some collectivist hellhole. This is America. We are a diverse nation, and an individualist nation. We will never be a collectivist nation nor would it work if we were.

Easy, a third of the country claims to love America but constantly hates on Americans, another third hates America, but loves its people. The last of us just call a spade a spade as we see it!!!!!!!!!!!

So far, the responses to the OP indicate that to some, the truth hurts

I agree totally OP

One has to watch American media, music and television to see exactly where this has been pushed on American people

They certainly have been given their marching orders from above by those with an agenda to denegrate American society and it crosses both left and right sides of the political spectrum

As a country we used to love people and use things. Today our culture embraces the idea to love things and use people.

Unfortuately, we have stopped being this and have become a nation of mindless follow the leader idiots. Look around you, walking zombies staring blankly into some electronic devise, waiting to get their next thought from some self proclaimed expert on the internet about fashion, sex, etc. Nobody interacting and taking in the natural beauty of the world or human interaction. Rather others are looked upon with suspicion. Pretty sorry existance these days

One of many reasons why we are falling behind
