Observations from the trenches, will make you sick at the fraud, but it's the "banksters" who are the criminals, right?

I literally witnessed small children asking their mothers if they could borrow their EBT cards. I once had a man show me his welfare card for an ID to buy alcohol. The man was from Massachusetts. Governor Michael Dukakis’ signature was on his welfare card. Dukakis’ last gubernatorial term ended in January of 1991. I was born in June of 1991. The man had been on welfare my entire life.
The question is how? They lowered the amount of time someone could be on welfare in the 90s and it actually raised employment for those that used to be on it because they had no other choice but to get a job or die of starvation. I'm a liberal and I think this is a good idea, but.......there is never a permanent solution.
There were always be poor and rich, and there will always be a widening wealth gap (apparently), there will always be too many people (who really thinks every single person can be employed?), there will always be people with mental illnesses, people raised in horrid environments etc etc etc. This is life.
Thanks, plw. I read it. The article isn't particularly shocking or revealing. Yes, there are rude people in the world. Yes, some of them are on welfare.

Wrong. They only did that with just the one welfare program called TANF which is the big free cash give-away program as a reward to single women who have babies they can't afford. They limited the cash handouts to 5 years.
Section 8, Medicaid, food stamps, WIC, utility assistance, free cell phones, SSI, have no time limits whatsoever.
All you have to do is look at the typical welfare recipient and you can see that by far the majority are perfectly able bodied and most have IQ's over 70. In fact they are so able-bodied that their fertility rates are absurd.

it's not about degrees of criminality, but rather, the sheer amount of money involved. It's hard to get worked up over welfare fraud, when we're giving away trillions to bankers.
Why would a welfare card from 1991 indicate lifetime dependence? It's not as if people are required to surrender their cards if they leave welfare, so I'm sure some people carry outdated cards of some sort.
I'm all for welfare reform, but we've heard this kind of talk for years (decades?) now. I'm guessing Republicans have been in power for part of that time, yet nothing gets done about it. Just seems like one of those issues "conservatives" like to yell about, but not actually offer any solutions on. I guess it's more fun to be angry, though.
