This is one reason there will never be racial harmony in America (In my lifetime). It’s not because minorities refuse to be “a part” but certain types of people refusing to accept. World history is told from a Eurocentric prospective, American history is told from a Eurocentric prospective and any other prospective is undervalued and despised. Makes you think there is an agenda or something to hide doesn’t it.
Unless the law is unconstitutional I don't see how the judge could have ruled differently.
I'm sure there are plenty of books at the local library where one can learn about how righteous Mexicans were and how evil Europeans are if one is interested in such topics. Doesn't mean it should be taught in schools.
Those narrowly focused studies might be fine in college but for K-12 we should be teaching US studies. Give the kids the core education of US in K-12 and let college be the place where you can hone in on specific narrow issues.

I did have a Black History Class in High School that was pretty good and i'm glad i took it. But at the end of the day, it's more important to simply incorporate that stuff into a regular American History class. Well, at least the portions of Black History that are relevant to an American History syllabus. No need to teach who invented the straightening comb.

Arizona is quickly becoming the new age Alabama. Anti-illegal sentiment has become anti-Latino. Now it looks like the hate and bigotry will spawn laws that discriminate and disenfranchise. This is one of the main reasons conservatives want smaller government. Not because they’re willing to accept fewer services but because they want to run unchecked.

What about the hate and bigotry displayed by the Hispanics that want to shun the US aspect of America with their narrowly focused "history" lessons in school ?

I had a Mexican "Californio" culture course in my senior year of HS in SoCal. All it did was open my eyes to a new perspective on things I thought I knew pretty well. Opening ones eyes is always a good thing!
I hope Tucson SD figures out a way to get its Mexican Culture curriculim approved, without having to close the classes, or water down the content to meaninglessness. It sounds like a very valuable program to me.
