Because economies run in cycles and will eventually go up after it went down.

This is your third "summer of recovery!"

Will it take ten "summery of recoveries" before you understand this complete incompetence.

You don't have to be able to find a job in a long time, you just have to be occasionally looking.

From looking at those definitions it seems like if you only spend one day a month checking the want ads you qualify as part of the U3 numbers, and if you decided to go to school full time or stay home to care for the kids so haven't looked in 10 months you'd still qualify in the U5 numbers.

Despite all this inclusion you seem to be rejecting it in favor of an even broader definition. I'm just not why, what exactly are we trying to measure here?

Not when government gets involved and bails out the failures.
It never recovers. There is no bottom. It rides a flat line, until the government can no longer fund it, then it is a chaotic collapse, from every angle, because the engine for recovery is completely destroyed, and only the governments buddies survive to make monopolies and total control.

The new program, courtesy of your Republicans in Congress, is no programs. No more stupid stimulus, spraying money around at random for those who bought a car this month or a house last month or hired an employee between the correct dates. No more buying roadworthy cars in order to crush them. No more public employee bailouts.

In short, less wasting of money we don't have on programs that do not work. Ironically, Obama will reap the benefit of a slowly improving economy even thought it is getting better in spite of him, not because of him.

The economy is not improving...not one bit. Sears just announced they will close 200 stores. Its still more difficult than ever to find a job. We are in this for the long haul unfortunately.

It's called "Christmas".

It happens every year.

This is complete bs. WE are avoiding a depression precisely because of the stimulus and quantitative easing. The notion that Obama is throwing water on the recovery is just partisan koolaid. It is all about getting money moving through the economy, and it is starting to work. No miracles, and no rapid growth, but the housefire is dowsed and reconstruction is moving forward.

I guess one man's BS is another man's astute analysis--and vice versa. Good thing it's still a free country, you can think what you want.
