I looked quickly for more information, there is not alot out there yet....I did find this. Curious as to what
is meant by "engaged", wonder what precisely happened.

Funny, I didn't see any attacking going on. Reread the OP, which requests additional facts and the second post which offers some.
But.....but......but......they are only following the laws and cops are mostly angels that do no wrong. They are a victim of the public's agenda to smear them. That's basically what some have been saying on the forums lately.

Doc, it was meant to be a parody of how many people will jump on any bad news to try to attach it to their pet targets (really, look around the forum).
Actually, I'm hoping to prevent that but I'm dreaming...the local crazies will likely overwhelm the thread soon enough with "******* this", "teabagger that" and so forth.
So there's basically zero info other than that he "engaged officers" and that they shot him. So for all we know he might have been firing at them. Or maybe he didn't, we don't know yet.
It's pretty damn tragic if that's what happened but if he was firing the gun then he was a threat to the lives of both the officers and anybody else around, and that threat has to be dealt with in the quickest way possible.
