It is you who knows not of which he speaks. Oklahoma's growth over the last 10 years has been below the US overall growth rate. How many young people think "forget New York City, I wanna live in Tulsa one day!" The oil industry keeps the state alive but its the last place a young liberal would want to move to with its abysmal public education system and social attitudes from the 50s.

Texas as a state is conservative. The cities of Houston, Austin, & Dallas are anything but conservative.

It's way different on the West coast keep that in mind.
Along the ocean from So. Calif through OR to WA state, is lib. The more inland you go the more conservative it is.

I'm not sure any state has become more socially-conservative.

In some ways Missouri has maybe become more conservative. It used to be seen as a bellwether "swing-state", but I think it's now seen more as just a conservative state. Louisiana and Oklahoma were two of the states that veered more Republican in 2008 and they look to have become more Republican in local government too. In the North Maine surprised some by voting against same-sex marriage. After that its Legislature and Governor switched to Republican. I used to want to move to Maine someday, but thought it too liberal. Well maybe I still could.

I think Utah has definitely gotten more conservative over the last few decades. When I lived there in the 1960's they at least had a democrat Governor (Rampton) and US Senator (Moss). Today, I think few if any with a "D" after their name can get elected the (except Salt Lake proper).

I think Texas is in the throes of its last gasp of extreme conservatism. There are a lot of well educated people moving there from California and other parts because of job opportunities plus the Hispanic population is growing very fast and they don't vote Republican as a general rule. It will become more centrist in the coming years.

Ohio, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Minnesota - all states that come to mind when leaning more conservative than they have in the past. Even Hawaii.

I think the country of Canada is becoming more conservative. Not sure if that's relevant. But they seem to be leaning towards militarism and tough justice these days rather than having a peaceful image.

The energy industry is also huge there and that tends to draw in more conservatives.
