Ventura was not a SEAL. He was UDT. There is a major difference between the two.
while there is a difference in their service, they went through the SAME training, and that is BUD/S. the UDT and SEAL teams were merged in 1983, which is why jesse claims SEAL status rather than UDT. the only real difference is the type of missions that the UDT teams, and SEAL teams went on.
Even though I think it was stupid of guy to lose his cool and even bother w/ Ventura, I can clearly see and understand his feelings/stance IF Ventura actually said what he said about loosing a few.

Wrong. The UDT teams in Vietnam that Ventura served in were precursor SEAL Teams today. UDT then, are NOT UDT now.
the SEAL teams were actually created during the kennedy administration, and were actually a conglomeration of UDT, scouts and raiders, and one other world war two era team, i forget which.

From September 11, 1969, to September 10, 1975, during the Vietnam War era, Ventura served in the United States Navy. Ventura graduated with BUD/S class 58 in December 1970[7] and was part of Underwater Demolition Team 12 (UDT).[8] The UDTs were merged with the US Navy SEALs in 1983, 8 years after Ventura had left the Navy.
you want to try again? BUD/S was the training class for ALL navy special forces. some graduates were assigned to the SEAL teams and others, like ventura, were assigned to the UDT teams.

Nope, don't want to try again. My bad. I will however argue the BUD/S of Ventura's time is in no way comparable to current training.

its my understanding that BUD/S hasnt really changed all that much. granted there have been things added to the class over the years, but the core training program is much the same as it was when UDT training started during world war two.
the mission has also changed over they years as well, to include many more functions.

Not to beat a dead horse but there is validity in the statement "the mission drives the training".
