But, in addition to being Texan, some Texans are also Southerners - East Texas is definitely the South. Far West Texas and Deep South Texas are absolutely not.
South Texas and West Texas are more of a Tex Mex culture... Just as friendly and polite but in a different way.

When someone calls me 'sir', I usually ask them to call me by my first name.
It's called "being polite" and "respect". It's normally difficult to perturb southerners,....unless someone moves into a southern state and begins the...."that's not the way we do it in (pick a state)" crap.

Then they are most likely told very politely that they should probably move back to (pick a state) if that's what they like.

But I regularly hear Southerners in non-southern states say that they think a certain way because they were raised in the South. If they're not willing to change when they move to non-southern states, I don't see why non-Southerners should have to change when they move to a southern State.

Most of us just say,.."well bless your little 'ol pea-pickin' heart". Our moms taught us to not use profanity....

Well, I would say that if those Southerners moved to some other state and were telling people we do it like <this> in <Southern state>, they are wrong in doing so.

I was told, as a female, that using profanity was a sign of poor breeding.

I'd say it's difficult for most people to change who they are after they pass age 30 or so, no matter what part of the country they're from.

How about while having sex? I guess that's a different type of "breeding".
