It is just that many in America don't want to pay for other people's murder of their children known as abortion. It is that simple; no government funding should be possible.
People on the left and especially blacks have been blinded by the history of places like Planned Parenthood whose history has been linked to the genocide of black people. (Look It Up)

Amazingly enough they all do get born, in families that want them and fully commit themselves to raise and educate.

You shouldn't expect a government insurace with taxpayer dollars or a faith based organization to help exterminate children IMO.
Planned Parenthood should become it's own insurace carrier and can use the blood of the unborn for the ink in their contracts. (how's that for dramatic) :-)
So religious institutions can't create their own purist insurance carriers to serve their purist clients? They ought to, under pretense of upholding their beliefs, dictate the standards of an entire industry, and a nation, far beyond it's catechism? That's mighty ambitious, isn't it? We ought to revert to the law of the jungle? "Natural law" in the lion kingdom would have infants slaughtered over male territorial disputes. Biblical tradition is already established with King Herod, right? Agree with that in the name of upholding purist traditions?
Correct it is a terrible choice. Who set the economic terms and conditions for Sophie's choice? If no matter what they do they're punished, it's the punishers who are unworthy of any authority. Until all of you entitling yourselves to a vote about it have seen every set of circumstances that would cause that choice, or oblige yourselves to pay that price directly (physically, spiritually, emotionally impossible), your vote doesn't apply to any life but your own which was gifted to you. Try a little harder not to be ingrates! It is physically, emotionally, and spiritually IMPOSSIBLE for any woman to dodge consequence for choosing an abortion. It is always possible for males to dodge consequence through willful ignorance. If we're going to plot and scheme meting out justice, how about every male whose seed is being aborted get his nuts put in a vice for his reckless behavior? How about things get up close and personal for him for a change. Bloodthirsty RTL could task itself with that job. It's not my job.

How many abortions there would be beyond medical necessity if only there were some way the Vatican could hold dominion over the testicles of all men for safe keeping until they're ready to be responsible for what it is they are doing? I'm wondering how the rest of you outside the faith would appreciate a pragmatic plan entrusting your testicles to a guardian in Rome. The ultimate gatekeeper system. The indigent, the HIV positive, the rapists, the pedophiles, the serial monogamists, the social climbers... and all the rest of the nasty characters fathers who truly love their daughters would rather not see them marry. If only they saw them coming, but apparently, even the Vatican lacks the power of Ms Cleo they irrationally expect out of all of womankind.
I'd like to see better choices happen for a change, but that can't happen so long as controlling/ manipulating women is job one in religion, and giving license of impunity to men is job one in politics. It leaves women and children target practice for malevolence that BOTH religion and politics claim to defend us all from. Well, SOME of us, not all of us.
When everyone is willing to grow up, own their lives fully, not be legislatively or religiously impeded from doing so, and refrain from preying on one another, it's amazing what America has been able to accomplish for itself individually, and as a nation, committed in labors of love in the true Christian spirit. Not the one made for TV, not the one prosperity preachers sell, and not the one theologians living vicariously 3rd party narrative in a fish bowl concoct.
